Wastebusters Certification

For the first time this year, the Wastebusters Program will be open to every school within the CCCSWA’s jurisdiction. The Program has been changed to two levels – the Wastebusters-Winners and the Wastebusters Leadership Circle.

Wastebuster-Winners can continue to achieve Wastebusters status by completing a list of recycling and source reduction activities. If a school is successful in completing the activities, it is awarded $500. The application can be submitted every year and every school in the jurisdiction is eligible. Wastebusters-Winners’ schools include:

• Burton Valley Elementary

• Indian Valley Elementary

• Murwood Elementary

• Parkmead Elementary

• Campolindo High

San Ramon Schools that are eligible:

• Alamo Elementary

• Charlotte Wood Middle

• Del Amigo High

• Diablo Vista Middle

• Green Valley Elementary

• Greenbrook Elementary

• Los Cerros Middle

• Montair Elementary

• Monte Vista High

• Rancho Romero Elementary

• San Ramon Valley High

• Stone Valley Middle

• Sycamore Valley Elementary

• Tassajara Hills Elementary

• Vista Grande Elementary

Wastebusters Leadership Circle schools are ones that have been Wastebusters for three years or more and have been able to reduce trash service and increase recycling service. These schools have also developed annual special projects that have increased source reduction and recycling even more. A Wastebusters Leadership Circle school can be awarded $1,500 per year and qualify for free bus transportation (space is limited) to the new Material Recovery Field Trip. Schools already qualified as Wastebusters Leadership Circle are:

• Foothill Middle

Wastebusters Recycling Award for Custodians - Show your school's custodian how much you appreciated their recycling efforts by nominating them for the Wastebusters Award for Custodians. Winners are selected from each school district and receive a $250 gift card redeemable at a local vendor.
